A Brief Introduction
I suppose I should start by briefly describing this site and what its purpose is. To begin, I must mention that I have been a distributed computing participant for at least nine years. I initially got my start contributing to the projects run by distributed.net, but I soon branched out to other projects such as the Great Internet Mersenne Prime Search and numerous projects running on the BOINC platform. In any case, this site is so that I can post any statistics or information I find interesting related to distributed computing.
What You'll Find Here
OGR-27 Status
One of the biggest questions people have about distributed.net's OGR-27 project is when it might possibly come to a finish. (The same question could be asked of RC5-72, but that one could end anytime between now and never.) To this end, I use some of my limited statistical and mathematical knowledge to project an end date for the project. In addition, you'll find statistical information about the stubs in each stubspace.
distributed.net Personal Proxy
One problem for creating the OGR status page was collecting data on the stubs. Initially, I simply processed the logs from each of my clients. However, I soon discovered that processing the logs from a personal proxy simplified matters significantly. (All of my clients can be configured to pass through the proxy, so there is only a single set of logs to analyze.) At the same time, I figured, "Why not open myself up to even more data by allowing the general public to access the proxy as well?"
As such, that's exactly what I've done. My proxy is open for public use, and you can use it by simply configuring your client(s) to connect to dc.calindora.com, port 2064. (This is the default port, so you actually don't need to enter it at all, however.) If you do use this proxy, be advised that your e-mail address may appear in the "Personal Proxy Statistics" section of this web site. If you wish to use an alias instead, please send me an e-mail with your e-mail address and your desired alias, and I will make the appropriate changes. In addition, I ask that you not drain the proxy when the project nears completion. My intent is to store enough work for 3-5 days for each client that uses the proxy regularly.
Updates
Maybe updates are important enough to have at the top of the page, but at least for the moment, at the bottom of the page they shall remain.
2009-10-13: Reorganized the entire site and finally re-added the personal proxy statistics section.
